I haven't attended many fairs or festivals this year, but I decided to check out the Apple Festival in Lincoln, AR, since I had never been. It was held on the square in downtown Lincoln, and was actually a very nice little arts and crafts fair. I wasn't there at the right time for any of the parades or entertainments. There was a nice collection of old and antique tractors:
It was a gorgeous fall day, cool but sunny.
Lots of crafts vendors, such as this man making brooms:
The downtown area was blocked off to vehicular traffic. When I first arrived, there weren't many visitors, but within 30 minutes it was quite busy.
The kids area was almost deserted--church services were just letting out. I'm sure the bouncy houses got a good workout a little later!
Of course, I had to indulge in some fair food--a foot long corn dog, and a funnel cake, that Copper and Trixie were glad to help me finish when I got home.
Dogs like funnel cakes.
I enjoyed the festival, but it would have been more fun if I hadn't been alone. I still miss my husband terribly, and probably always will. He enjoyed going to events like these, and was especially fond of the small town of Lincoln, which is only a few miles west of here. He did his banking there, visited the Masonic Lodge there, and just loved the small town atmosphere. It's times like today that I think to myself, "He would have enjoyed this so much...it just isn't fair that he had to miss all this." I know he would want me to enjoy life, but sometimes I feel so disloyal for doing so.
I just miss him.
