Slow progress

On Monday morning the elevator arrived.

They put together the rails and installed them in the shaft.

It took several hours to get it to that stage, everything was in small pieces.

Here is the rest of the elevator.  They won't put the cab in place until the shaft has been painted and the trim installed on the doors.  Plus they need electricity to be able to test the mechanism before installing the cab.

At least it is coming together.  The elevator company is one of the few who are actually sticking to their schedule.  Nothing much else is getting done right now.  Impatience is normal at this stage but it is hard to see beautiful weather with nothing getting done.

The elevator has a battery backup that will kick in if there is a power outage, although we also will have a built-in backup generator for this part of the house.

Today one guy is outside putting decking on the porch.  We are still waiting for the interior doors, trim, and paint.  Those were supposed to have been done by now....
